Opening Spring 2016

50%of all kids break a bone during childhood. In just the last year, Orthopædic Institute for Children (OIC) had 60,000 patient visits and placed casts on 10,000 kids. Many of these kids face enormous obstacles whenever they need orthopaedic care. Why? Because 80%of them are poor, and underinsured or uninsured.

At OIC, we believe that no child should ever be turned away if we can help them - even if their family is unable to pay for care.

A recent study showed that children with private insurance see a pediatric orthopaedic specialist in less than a week – while children with public insurance can wait up to 4 weeks or longer. Longer surgery wait times put kids at greater risk for permanent damage.

An Ambulatory Surgery Center in downtown Los Angeles will help to reduce surgery wait times, and prevent serious or permanent damage to kids healing from musculoskeletal disorders and injuries.

That’s timely care for:
  • Fractures
  • ACL Injuries
  • Extremity Disorders
  • Tumors

It is well known that children engaged in sports do better in high school, college, and in life. The sooner injured kids receive care, the sooner they can go back to doing what kids do — running, jumping and playing.

This is what the Ambulatory Surgery Center at OIC will be all about!
